UAE Jiu-Jitsu team hits 11 medals at World Youth Championship 2025
Emirati girls secure four medals on second competition day
DUBAI/BANGKOK – The UAE jiu-jitsu national team (U16), sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, raised its medal tally to 11 at the 2025 World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship – U16-U18-U21 in Bangkok, Thailand, being held from November 8 to 14.
The girls’ under-16 team added four medals on Saturday, including one silver and three bronze, following seven medals won by the boys on the opening day.
Sara Farook claimed silver in the 48 kg category, while Mathail Alhammadi and Ghaiaheb Alrashdi earned bronze in the 36 kg division, and Maitha Alkarbi added bronze in the 40 kg division. With these results, the UAE team’s total in the under-16 division now stands at 11 medals, comprising two gold, three silver and six bronze.

Abdulla Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the girls’ performance, highlighting their skill, confidence and discipline. He noted that their results reflect the ongoing development of women’s jiu-jitsu in the UAE, backed by the vision of the nation’s leadership and the Federation’s focus on nurturing talent.
Looking ahead
Al Zaabi added, “This strong start gives us great motivation to maintain momentum in the under-18 and under-21 categories and further increase our medal tally, reinforcing the UAE’s standing among leading jiu-jitsu nations.”
Sara Farook, reflecting on her silver medal, said, “Standing on the podium at the World Championship is a dream come true. The matches were tough, but with guidance from our coaches and support from teammates, I stayed focused on representing the UAE. I’m proud to contribute to the team’s success and will continue striving for gold.”
The championship continues today, with the boys’ under-18 category, as the UAE national team aims to build on its momentum and add to its growing medal count.
